Turning back a chapter

The changes that are being implemented in the Greek education system are utterly disastrous and the only purpose they serve is to placate the hard core of ruling SYRIZA.

The education minister has chosen to turn a deaf ear to the reactions of the academic community, offering all sorts of excuses about the shambolic situation at the country’s biggest educational institutions.

Education is one of the big national issues, not a playing field for petty party interests. A few years ago, political parties sat down and agreed on the basics of education in an almost unprecedented show of consensus, turning over a new page. Now, that page is being turned back to the previous chapter.
